Reflection
This semester has taught me a lot about the composition of photojournalism. When I started, I thought that taking pictures and putting them on spreads was easy. I didn't seek out the best pictures, and my pictures were taken crooked, blurry, and without a clear reason for taking the actual photos. I've learned that you can't have an all-blurry photograph, but a photo that focuses on one subject while the rest is blurry. I've learned not to tilt the camera. And, overall, I've learned that you can't just slap together a spread and call it done; it takes a large investment of time and energy, and you could have to restart it when you're all done with it. I hope to use this portfolio as a way to look back on all of the progress I will continue to make with my photography and my caption-writing and the ways I design. I think people will see someone who's gradually learning how to take good pictures when they look at this, and I think some of the captions will give them a laugh. This is a part of my life from now on, because I can always look back to it for comparison, or for memories. This semester has helped my growth as a potential photojournalist an unspeakable amount.
